Direct answer
A fast image converter should show the real tradeoff
Changing format does not guarantee a smaller file or better quality. ImgTurbo decodes the source, redraws its pixels, and asks your browser to encode the selected format. The result panel reports what that specific conversion produced.
- Choose one supported image. It must be no larger than 30 MB, 40 megapixels, or 16,384 pixels on either side.
- Select output and dimensions. JPEG is useful for photos, PNG for lossless pixels and transparency, and WebP for modern web delivery when your browser can encode it.
- Compare, then download. Check the output dimensions, file size and measured percentage difference before saving.

PNG
Use PNG for lossless raster output, screenshots, graphics and alpha transparency. A photographic PNG can be larger than its JPEG source.
WebP
WebP supports lossy and lossless compression and transparency. Output availability and exact encoding behavior come from your browser.

Image converter questions
Which image formats does ImgTurbo convert?
ImgTurbo accepts JPEG, PNG and WebP files that your browser can decode. It exports JPEG and PNG, plus WebP when the browser supplies a WebP encoder. Unsupported output types are not relabeled as if conversion succeeded.
Are images uploaded to ImgTurbo?
No. The file bytes are decoded, transformed and encoded in this browser. They are not sent in an HTTP request. Optional audience analytics can load only after consent and does not receive the image.
Does conversion always make an image smaller?
No. Size depends on the source pixels, dimensions, format, quality setting and the browser encoder. PNG output from a photo is often larger. ImgTurbo reports the measured result.
What happens to image metadata?
The Canvas re-encoding path normally omits source EXIF, GPS and other embedded metadata. ImgTurbo does not offer metadata preservation. Browser color and profile behavior can vary, so use specialist software for color-critical work.
